Shizen is a word that I have taken and embraced as a way of life, or a lifestyle of harmony. The art of Japanese gardening is meant to be a celebration of innovation and creativity. 
 
My goal in this short book is to instill in you a creative spirit to develop your own Shizen Style Japanese Garden based on your human creativity, your native location and materials, and Japanese aesthetics. Japanese garden composition is the starting point in figuring out what it is that you want in your garden space.
